John’s drawings playfully depict everyday subjects, from an abandoned shopping trolley to an encounter with a friendly dog. His dry-point etchings demonstrate a sensitive use of line and space. John works with photographs and found imagery collected from books and magazines.
John was a joint recipient of an Arts and Disability Connect Award in 2021, to develop his print making skills with Cork Printmakers. His work culminated in a group exhibition at MTU Crawford College of Art and Design called Observations in Print.
John’s previous projects and exhibitions have included showing work at Paul Barwell Gallery of Contemporary Art, Medellín, Colombia, Crawford Art Gallery, Cork City Hall, Cork Public Museum in Fitzgerald’s Park, Cork Coffee Roasters, Millennium Hall, Cork, Quay Co-op, Cork, MTU Crawford College of Art and Design, Sirius Arts Centre, Cobh, The Vision Centre, Cork, and The Irish Examiner (Newspaper) Office, Cork. John was a long-term member of Glasheen Supported Studio Programme (GASP).
